WHEN CONFLICT BECOMES DANGEROUS
Identifying and Navigating Domestic Violence in Family Law
Many family law practitioners consciously choose not to handle domestic violence cases. Yet whether acknowledged or not, domestic violence issues arise in a significant number of our matters. National data reflects that one in four women and one in nine men experience some form of domestic violence during their lifetime. The legal, personal, and societal consequences are profound and far-reaching.
This three half-day seminar provides a structured, practical framework for understanding domestic violence in the family law context. Topics include the evolution of domestic violence jurisprudence, risk assessment, firearm prohibitions and procedures, effective collaboration with Family Court Services and other experts, safety planning and digital-age evidence considerations, and the foundational principles and nuanced strategies involved in litigating these complex cases.
