Member Benefits

Online and Printed Members' Directory Listing

The ACFLS Members' Directory, also known as the "little yellow book," is a terrific referral source for family lawyers throughout the state, and copies can frequently be found on the judicial officers' bench.

The online ACFLS Members' Directory is accessible from anywhere in the world.  The searchable listing makes both your email address and your website instantly available to potential clients.

ACFLS Newsletter

Cutting-edge and thoughtful articles from family law practitioners and forensic professionals are delivered 3-4 times a year--the most recent issue is over 40 pages!  This is an opportunity to keep up with recent case law as well as legislative, and strategic developments in family and appellate law, as well as a potential showcase for you to contribute your own articles, to be read by fellow specialists and judicial officers throughout the state.

Archived copies of the newsletter can be accessed online, and an effort is currently underway to update those archives back to 1994.

"Brief Bank"

Our members have contributed articles and briefs to our family law practice databank, documents to which you as a member have exclusive access.

Member Listserv

Use the listserv to post questions and receive responses from specialists all over the state; obtain help with forms selection, research, and local court practices, as well as solicit referals or recommendations for experts.

Continuing Education and Social Networking

ACFLS sponsors various educational and social events throughout the year and all over the state, including:

  • monthly CLE luncheons in Sacramento
  • monthly CLE dinners at various locations in the San Francisco Bay area
  • annual spring seminar in southern California, an event packed with top-notch presentations and relaxing social events (cocktail party and dinner, opportunities for warm-weather leisure activities such as bicycling and golf in the afternoons)
  • annual cocktail party at State Bar Convention
  • annual holiday party in San Francisco

In addition, in order to make the excellent continuing education programs available to members in different geographic locations, we have launched a program of producing both DVDs and online movies/MP3s for sale.  While these may be purchased by nonmembers, too, ACFLS members have advance notice of new CLE products becoming available.

Whether you obtained your certification years ago or are a recent successful applicant, please contact the ACFLS Administrator, Lynn Pfeifer, 15 Corrillo Dr, San Rafael CA, 94903, telephone number (415) 499-1610, fax number (415) 479-1347 or email her at ACFLS@comcast.net for additional information on membership dues and benefits.
