Legislation and Case Law Updates
Members are kept apprised of all important legislative bulletins and updates on pending bills and cases before the courts of appeal and Supreme Court from our annually elected Legislative Coordinator. When requested, ACFLS Amicus Committee provides amicus briefs to educate the bench and support the position of the bar in general, without advocating a particular party's position in the case up for review. In addition, members of ACFLS have testified numerous times before committees of the State Legislature on matters critical to our practice.
Attorney Resource Databank
Members have access to a databank containing sample briefs and forms, as well as CLE materials and bibliographies/videographies. Members can also submit their favorite forms (e.g., Client Advice Letter, Stock Option Calculator, Excel Spreadsheets, MSA Provisions, etc.) as well as briefs of interest to the family law bar for inclusion in the databank.
Member Listserv
Members have access to a mailing list that provides them with a place to ask questions of fellow ACFLS members and receive confidential (or public - your choice) responses. For example, how is a procedure matter handled in a different court? Has anyone researched an arcane point that you are dealing with for the first time? Also, it will be a place to discuss policy, viewpoints or whatever is topical to a family law attorney.
